We sure enjoyed Nature Quest 2016. Once again, a lot was learned. Bruce and I are happy to hear the rivers are getting full.

Our Nature Quest experience was beyond what we could have expected. We literally loved every minute of it. All of the nature quest guides were in command of the knowledge of their nature niche’s and very personable and interested in sharing the wisdom and expertise. Bob and Martha Sargent are experts on hummingbirds and especially Rubythroats. We purchased a book he has written particularly about this species … for once I believe we have some understanding the behavior of these birds and are loving every minute of being witness to the Rubythroats in our backyard. Fred Bassett infused humor and fun into sharing his expertise about the hummers. LeAnn and Anthony Sharp are quite hospitable in showing us around the really comfortable surroundings of Nature Quest Headquarters. They are truly a part of the surroundings there, attracting exotic migratory birds and the most hummingbirds we have ever seen. We got a bluebird nest box from LeAnn and found new nesters settling in within 5 days of setting it up! Tom Collins and Derek Muschalek led us on a very exciting hunt for butterflies, caterpillars and their host flowers and plants. Some much of these have been unnoticed and we have taken for granted…never realizing they were right under our noses. Patty Leslie Pasztor and Susan Sander led us on a bird watching and search for more wild flowers. We saw more painted buntings, ruby-throated and black chinned hummingbirds as well as some other exotic birds that escaped our notice. It was such a nice touch to sit around the campfire and listen to LeAnn’s mom and Lee Haile share their storytelling. We had no idea that the few days we spent at Nature Quest would change our lives once we came back to the city, yet we were able to recreate a bit of Nature Quest in our backyard. We will be back next year!

LeAnn at the Hill Country Nature Center is a wonderful person. Mike & I attended Nature Quest for many years and made fantastic friends, learned so much and enjoyed every minute of our time there. I encourage everyone to consider going next year. Hugs, Sue. Highland Lakes Master Naturalist

Hello LeAnn & Anthony, Patty and I are definitely coming, and have spread the word to several friends who are considering it. We are probably two of your most enthusiastic boosters over here in Austin. Please let everyone know we will return, to Nature Quest 2015, and to all the others, for as long as your vision and energy - and our bodies - hold up. Thanks again, good friends, -Bob Murray and Patty Stephens

Hope you and Anthony are doing good. Bob & I are as well as can be expected for a couple of old f--ts. We will miss being with you for these festivals, but can’t do as many as we used to. When you get your plan made for 2014 let us know and we will put it in our March 2014 newsletter. Every little bit of publicity helps. I know you are going to like Kelly & Donna Bryan and Charles & Nancy Floyd when you do get to work with them. They are supper folks and great Bird Banders. Good luck in all you do. Love to you both. Martha & Bob Sargent (Past Nature Quest Hummingbird Banders from Alabama)
